Dental Health Foundation Bursary

  Background The Oral Health Promotion Research Group, Ireland, [OHPRG] is pleased to extend a bursary of up to €1,200 for 2014. This bursary has been sponsored by the Dental Health Foundation. The OHPRG is awarding the bursary this year to promote the communication of current oral health promotion projects and work that is going on across Ireland. Criteria for application for the bursary. Applications are accepted from individuals or teams.  An individual applicant must be a current member of the Oral Health Promotion Research Group. For team applications, at least one member should be a member of the OHPRG. Applicants should describe a recent or planned oral health promotion project in which they have been involved.   The format of the application should include the following headings:
  • Title / Introduction
  • Background
  • Aims and objectives
  • Materials and methods
  • Results (if available)
  • Discussion and conclusion
  • Acknowledgements
  • Costs (for projects at the planning / roll out stage)
The work should not have been presented elsewhere nor have been awarded a prize previously. Applicants from the HSE must have the permission of their line manager to submit the proposal and the submission must bear the signature of the line manager. The application should be submitted to: Carmel Parnell at carmel.parnell@hse.ie by 5pm on  Friday, 22nd August 2014. Applications will be judged by the members of the Committee of the OHPRG. The Committee reserves the right to withhold the bursary if applications do not meet the submission. The decision of the judges is final. Applying the Principles of Health Promotion to Population Health Improvement. This year the HPRC conference will consider the relationships and synergies between the Health Promotion principles and how they are applied in practice, the developing policy context in Ireland, and the drive for evidence generation and use. The conference themes are: Applying the Principles of Health Promotion, Evaluation and Monitoring in Health Promotion, and Translating the Health Promotion Evidence-Base. Dear Colleague I would like to advise you all that the Annual General Meeting of the AHPI will take place in Spunout, 48 Fleet Street, Parliament Row, Temple Bar, Dublin on Wednesday the 26h February, 2014  from 10.30 am to 4.00 pm.  We are delighted to announce that the AGM will be followed by a 2 hour training workshop on ‘Planning Health Promotion Actions’ which will be delivered by Siobhan McGrory.  The training session will be available to members only.
